  • President Park visited the Netherlands and Germany from Mar 24 to Mar 29 to discuss the way to end NKs nuclear program and prepare the reunification of Korean Peninsula.  
  • Angela Merkel pledged to offer full support to President Park for Seouls efforts to prepare for unification.
  • SKorea sent home the remains of 437 Chinese soldiers killed during the Korean War.
  • More than 1,300 Japanese academics protested against Tokyos move to review and alter its 1993 apology for its militarys wartime mobilization of sex slaves.
  • Korea and Canada struck an FTA after nearly 9 years of negotiations.
  • NK threatened to carry out a new form of nuclear test in response to a UN condemnation of NKs recent ballistic missile launches.
  • Government vowed to ease or lift 2,200 regulations from the total of 15,269 hurdles.
  • Koreas GDP grew 3% in 2013, with t its manufacturing output expanding 3.3% on-year.
  • Taiwans Yuanta Securities acquired a 27.06% stake in Tong Yang Securities.
  • The National Pension Service upheld 30.5% of its assets total stocks valued at KW128.32 tril at 2013.
  • Cash assets held by Koreas top 30 conglomerates grew 18.3% on-year to KW157.7 tril in 2013.
  • SECs chip sales climbed 8.2% on-year to $33.82 bil in 2013, retaining No. 2 spot in the world.
  • Imported car sales in SKorea jumped 31.2% on-year in Feb to 13,852 units.
  • The Koreas gold market set sail on Mar 24, enabling securities firms to trade gold in the Stock Exchange.
  • Korea secured NB contracts of a combined 3.13 mil cgt (87 ships) for the first 2 months of this year, while China and Japan won 2.33 mil cgt (117 ships) and 1.06 mil cgt (53 units).
  • K-Sure vowed to ship-finance $400 mil for 3 drillships placed by Seadrill at SHI.
  • Yamal signed an LOI with MOL, Sovcomflot(SCF) and Teekay to build 15 ice-class LNG carriers in DSME for the Yamal LNG project.
  • The creditors of STX O&S decided to cancel the low-price orders for some 50 NBs.
  • Samjin managed to secure RGs issued by its Chinese bankers for some NB orders on a selective basis.
  • Hanjin Shipping is soon to merge with its parent firm Hanjin Shipping Holdings.
